And true to his word KT delivered the goal that made his weekend a little better after Celtic’s Scottish Cup final disappointment on Saturday afternoon.
In his post-match media conference after the 2-1 win at Southampton, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta had this to say about Kieran Tierney. “He said it yesterday, I’m going to score on my last Arsenal match and he’s done it! So, credit to him, a special thank you to him.
“He’s been part of the journey and he’s won with me. It’s true that he went to Sociedad for a few months, but it’s been a joy to work with him, a really special character. We wish him and his family all the very best. The doors of this club are open for him – he’s someone very, very liked at the club, in the dressing room and we want to wish him the best.”
Here’s that signing off goal from Kieran Tierney that brings the curtain down on his Arsenal career.

Here’s some reaction from Arsenal supporters towards Kieran Tierney after his six years at the club came to an end.
‘A top class human. Kieran Tierney will be missed’…’Very good player if I was asked five years ago about the main players for is I would definitely mention Saka and Tierney’…’What a way to sign off! Tierney delivered when it mattered most. Goal and Player of the Match, a perfect farewell.’…’Great ending for KT!’

‘Great finish to his stint with us, good servant’…’Super proud of him.’ …’Shame his time with us was plagued with injuries. What could have been. Always put in a performance when he did he play. Good luck back in Scotland’…’Thank you Kieran! Wishing you the very best for the chapter in your career.’…’Bye bye Tierney. Was the shining night in the dark times’…
Arsenal’s loss is clearly Celtic’s gain and the Celtic support will be looking forward to having him back in the team next season. And someone else who is looking forward to that is Kieran Tierney himself.
