Matheus Cunha is set to join Manchester United from Wolverhampton Wanderers, which means Ruben Amorim’s side will wave goodbye to some players to make way for the Brazilian.
Manchester United are signing Cunha straight after what is their worst Premier League finish of all time, but it’s a step in the right direction for the Red Devils.
Cunha is Premier League-proven, having bagged 15 goals and six assists in England’s top flight this season. It’s no surprise Ruben Amorim was keen to get the deal done quickly.
🚨🇧🇷 Matheus Cunha to Manchester United, here we go! Verbal agreement in place between all parties involved.
Cunha will sign deal until June 2030 with option until 2031. Wolves to receive £62.5m clause value in installments.

But as the £62.5m man arrives, others must surely depart. Alejandro Garnacho has been told to leave United by his boss, and one other United academy graduate will definitely be following suit.
Matheus Cunha to Manchester United seals Marcus Rashford exit
Boyhood Red Devils Marcus Rashford should leave Manchester United this summer, and the purchase of Cunha all but confirms it, in our opinion.
The reason being? Cunha is set to wear the number 10 for the Red Devils, a number that Marcus Rashford has adorned for United since 2018, following the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In Amorim’s system, it’s more than likely that Cunha will operate off the left, a position that’s been extremely problematic this season, despite Garnacho’s best efforts. Although, haven’t they all?
Rashford was always likely to depart Old Trafford, but Cunha stealing his number may very well be the final nail in the coffin for the England international.
Where Marcus Rashford could go this summer
Aston Villa have a buy option for Rashford, but it’s looking like they won’t exercise it this summer.
Rashford sent Villa fans a message on Monday, thanking them for the time he spent there – which indicates both parties won’t be coming to an agreement.

Elsewhere? Barcelona want Rashford, which is also his likely destination. How much the Catalans can cough up for his signature is a different story, however.
It will be the end of an era at Old Trafford when Marcus does leave for good. He leaves an undeniable legacy around the club, but it’s such a cruel fate as to how it’s ended.
