Report: Everton and Newcastle quoted £29m to sign PL defender, he is now keen to move

Everton can now put their full focus on their plans for the summer transfer window.

The Friedkin Group are going to put their hands in their pockets over the coming months to provide David Moyes the squad he deserves.

A final win in the 2024/25 campaign against Newcastle United was the perfect way for Everton to sign off after a much improved showing under Moyes.

However, Angus Kinnear expects Everton to be busy this summer as back-to-back wins to end the season will not paper over some of the cracks shown.

Improvements will be needed just about all over the Everton squad this summer with players departing at the end of their contracts.

Everton are eyeing four key areas to improve but that will be the absolute minimum requirement for the 62-year-old boss.

With the transfer market now just days away from opening, Everton are eyeing a shock raid on their Merseyside rivals.

But it seems as if the Toffees aren’t looking too far for a summer signing with Liverpool’s Jarell Quansah on Everton’s radar.

According to Caught Offside, the Reds are looking for a fee in the region of £25m-£29m for their centre-back.

Quansah earned an England call-up ahead of Jarrad Branthwaite earlier in the year, but he did miss out on the latest squad.

It is not just Everton who are showing an interest as the following clubs have also been credited in the report:

Nottingham Forest

Borussia Dortmund

Bayer Leverkusen

Newcastle United

Brentford

Bournemouth

Quansah is believed to have grown in desire of a summer departure following a difficult campaign when it comes to regular minutes.

Everton are also eyeing Liverpool’s Ben Doak as the 33-year record of no dealings between the clubs could come to an end this summer.

Arne Slot is a big fan of Jarell Quansah

Everton have lost their starting centre-backs to injury which will certainly scare the club ahead of the new season.

James Tarkowski picked up a serious injury and Branthwaite has missed the final game of the season due to the issue suffered against Southampton.

Opportunities have not been there for Quansah consistently this season, but Arne Slot has praised the defender’s quality.

“In my opinion, he has also the qualities to play in that position,” he said in March.

“He’s strong, he’s fast, he’s very comfortable with the ball and it gives us an extra quality if we play him, which we saw [against Paris Saint-Germain]”
