Manchester City will have two chances to add to their squad this summer.
Due to the upcoming Club World Cup in the USA, the Premier League has made a major change to the summer transfer window. There will be an additional 'mini window' beginning this week before a longer opportunity to sign players later in the summer.
It means City will be able to add to their squad from Sunday, June 1, with the extra dates as result of the exceptional registration period relating to the FIFA Club World Cup. Pep Guardiola's side are competing in that tournament and begin their campaign on June 18 against Wydad AC.
That first window closes at 7pm on June 10 ahead of the tournament starting on June 15. It allows the 32 teams the chance to bolster their squads ahead of the competition.
The transfer window will then reopen on Monday, June 16 and run until Monday, September 1. It will close at 7pm rather than the usual 11pm finish. The new Premier League season starts on Saturday, August 16.
City are expected to be busy in the window as Pep Guardiola's squad undergoes a rebuild. One of the first departures of the summer could see midfielder Maximo Perrone join Como on a permanent deal.
The Manchester Evening News understands the 22-year-old, who has spent this season on loan at the Italian club, is set to make the permanent switch in a deal worth more than £25million.
The likes of Kyle Walker and Kalvin Phillips also look set to depart while Jack Grealish and James McAtee face uncertain futures having been left out of the City squad for the Premier League finale at Fulham. Both now seem likely to depart this summer with Guardiola keen to trim his squad.
City have stepped back from the race to sign Bayer Leverkusen ace Florian Wirtz but remain keen on Morgan Gibbs-White at Nottingham Forest while AC Milan midfielder Tijjani Reijnders has been heavily linked.
