Liverpool chairman drops exciting transfer hint as'extraordinary'Arne Slot praised -'We go again'

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has promised fans that the Reds hierarchy "owe" it to Arne Slot's side to ensure it returns even better next season after the Dutch coach collected the Premier League title at the first time of asking.

"It's extraordinary," Werner said, via the ECHO. "We obviously had high hopes for this season but he has been an extraordinary coach. I think there have been three coaches who have won the Premier League in their first season and Arne is one of them. He is just an extraordinary leader.

"Great compliment to Arne, he's authentic, he's not trying to be anyone else. The team was an extraordinarily good team but he brought the best out of them."

Werner was in attendance alongside other key FSG figures including John Henry as Virgil van Dijk lifted the trophy on Sunday. The Liverpool bosses flew in from Boston and saw the incredible post-match scenes play out before they moved onto the pitch.

"We go again," Werner said. "It never gets old, winning. We owe it to all of our supporters to bring back a team even better next season. It's already [a] busy [summer].

"It's a very emotional day, a great day to be a Liverpool supporter and I'm so happy Mo (Mohamed Salah) scored that goal as it made a perfect ending for what was a magical season.

"It's true (I was tearing up). You hear the song You'll Never Walk Alone at Anfield and it's hard to describe. We owe it to all of our supporters to bring back a team even better next season."

This summer, Trent Alexander-Arnold will leave but the Reds are in talks with Bayer Leverkusen for Florian Wirtz. Jeremie Frimpong and Milos Kerkez are also among the players being considered.

"He did get the send-off," Werner said of Alexander-Arnold. "We were with him a couple of days ago and we thanked him.

"He showed me a picture of him at the training centre when he was seven years old."

"Another special day," Slot said in his post-match press conference. "Less pressure than four weeks ago, of course, when we had to win the game to get those celebrations.

"Now we knew we would get them. The energy in the stadium, how loud the fans were, the way the game ended in the last half-hour, going down to 10 men and then seeing such a great reaction from the players and the fans which led to, in my opinion, a deserved goal – we deserved to go 1-1.

"These players and these fans hate losing. They don't want to lose and that's what we showed again today."
