That’s a wrap for Premier League football in 2024/25, following the final-day fixtures on Sunday.
As the dust settles on the season, it’s time to dish out our end-of-season awards, starting with the Team of the Season. This was perhaps the toughest selection process in recent campaigns.
Our Premier League Team of the Season for the 2024/25 campaign
Goalkeeper: David Raya – Arsenal
A second straight Golden Glove award for David Raya, who impressed behind the division’s best defence. Stunning early-season saves against Aston Villa and Atalanta (Champions League) stood out with the Spaniard excelling on route to 13 clean sheets. He shared the Golden Glove with Nottingham Forest’s Matz Sels, who is unfortunate to miss out.

Right-back: Daniel Munoz – Crystal Palace
When you watch Daniel Munoz marauding down the right, you have to question the recent trend of shifting centre-backs to full-back. Fortunately, flying full-backs are back in fashion and Munoz was exceptional for Palace this season.
The Colombian registered nine goals and assists in the Premier League, set up Eberechi Eze’s FA Cup final winner, and led Europe’s top five leagues for tackles won (80).
Only two players created 40+ chances from open-play, made 40+ tackles and made 40+ interceptions in the Premier League in 2024/25.

Centre-back: Nikola Milenkovic – Nottingham Forest
Forest fans might argue that Murillo is the superior defender, but Nikola Milenkovic made Forest tougher to beat this season.
A transformative signing, the Serbian man-mountain helped turn a fragile Forest defence into one of the league’s best. Milenkovic was a huge presence in both boxes, winning 100 aerial duels at the fourth-best success rate in the Premier League (71.9%) and chipping in with five goals.

Centre-back: Virgil van Dijk – Liverpool
Liverpool’s leader was at his commanding best as the Reds romped to the title. Few predicted a Liverpool title win, but Arne Slot’s side exceeded all expectations. Van Dijk reaffirmed his status as the Premier League’s best centre-back, despite the ongoing uncertainty around his future.

Left-back: Milos Kerkez – Bournemouth
A bundle of energy down the Bournemouth left, Kerkez looks like the latest talent primed for a big move. The 21-year-old was relentless in his running, good at both ends of the pitch, and provided five assists. He edges out Antonee Robinson, Myles Lewis-Skelly and Josko Gvardiol for a place, in a good season for the league’s left-backs.
Midfield: Ryan Gravenberch – Liverpool
From fringe option to irreplaceable, it’s been some season for Ryan Gravenberch. Arne Slot reinvented the young Dutchman as a number six after Liverpool missed out on the signing of Martin Zubimendi.
It was one of the sliding doors moments of the campaign, with Gravenberch a natural in the new role. Brilliant receiving the ball in deep areas and a fine duel-winner, only two players managed more interceptions. Having just turned 23, the Premier League Young Player of the Season should only get better.

Midfield: Declan Rice – Arsenal
Onto the most competitive area of this side. Moises Caicedo, Sandro Tonali, Youri Tielemans, Morgan Rogers and Matheus Cunha all just miss out, with Declan Rice pipping them into our XI.
Rice was the driving force of Arsenal’s run to the Champions League final and delivered his best season in terms of goals (9) and assists (10). At 26, he’s become the leader of the Arsenal side, in news that bodes well for England.
Midfield: Alexis Mac Allister – Liverpool
Gravenberch’s reinvention was the headline news in Liverpool’s midfield, but Alexis Mac Allister was the standout. The Argentine is the man who makes Slot’s side tick, with an excellent passing range and underrated tenacity. Add in a penchant for the spectacular and it’s a recipe for an elite midfielder.
Forward: Mohamed Salah – Liverpool
The easiest selection in this side. Mohamed Salah was the Player of the Season and the Egyptian is expected to take home a clean sweep of individual awards. An unprecedented 47 goal involvements in a 38-game season, a record fourth Golden Boot, and the first-ever player to win multiple Golden Boot and Playmaker Awards. What a season.

Forward: Bryan Mbeumo – Brentford
Brentford barely missed a beat despite the sale of Ivan Toney with a new talisman emerging at the Gtech. Bryan Mbeumo enjoyed easily the best season of his Premier League career, scoring 20 times and setting up seven more goals. Brentford won’t want to accept it, but the 25-year-old is capable of playing on the Champions League stage.

Forward: Alexander Isak – Newcastle
The best centre-forward in the Premier League this season. Alexander Isak hit 23 league goals to finish as runner-up for the Golden Boot, in a season that saw Newcastle end their trophy drought and secure Champions League football.

He’s the first Newcastle player to score 20+ league goals in consecutive Premier League campaigns, an achievement even Alan Shearer did not manage for the Magpies.
