Katie McCabe Stole The Show At Arsenal Champions League Homecoming

Katie McCabe joined an exclusive list over the weekend, becoming on of the few Irish players to win the Champions League after Arsenal's 1-0 victory over Barcelona on Saturday.

The Dubliner would play the full 90 minutes as the English club triumphed in this competition for the first time since 2007, overcoming the odds to defeat a much fancied Barcelona team that had won three of the last four editions of the tournament.

There were some emotional scenes after the final whistle, including a wonderful interview from McCabe that summed up her journey in football.

Katie McCabe would also grab the microphone to lead the supporters in a number of chants, as well as an impassioned summary of what teammate Kim Little means to the club.

Katie McCabe's season is not finished despite her Champions League victory, with the 29-year old due to line out for Ireland in Friday's UEFA Nations League clash away to Turkey.

The Irish captain was given permission to make a late arrival to the camp on the back of her involvement in the European decider. Some joked that Ireland may struggle to peel her away from the celebrations in order to make an appearance in that game.

Katie McCabe has certainly enjoyed the celebrations in recent days, but she will no doubt be keen to play her part for Ireland during the international window.

Ireland currently sit second in the League B group, which would be enough to secure potential qualification for a promotion play-off later this year.
