Liverpool star confirms Anfield exit amid title celebrations

Despite securing their 20th Premier League title with a dominant campaign under Arne Slot, Liverpool are poised for one of their most active transfer windows in recent history, with significant incomings and outgoings reshaping the squad for the 2025–26 season.

Liverpool chairman Tom Werner has already asserted that he and FSG ‘owe it’ to the fans to ensure the squad is strong for next season.

Jeremie Frimpong has already completed a £30 million move, activated via a release clause

Florian Wirtz meanwhile looks set to join barring any late surprise with personal terms reportedly agreed.

Fabrizio Romano has even reported that the Anfield club have tabled a formal offer for the German international.

But some exits could change Liverpool’s squad quite dramatically.

Harvey Elliott appeared to drop some hints he would be leaving on social media.

Caoimhin Kelleher appears set to leave Liverpool this summer as the club prepares for the arrival of Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili.

Kelleher’s contract runs until June 2026, but with only a year left after this season, Liverpool are keen to cash in now and have reportedly placed a £30 million price tag on him.

Having joined Liverpool’s academy in 2015, any transfer fee received would represent pure profit for the club.

Kelleher has earned plaudits for his performances when called upon as Alisson Becker’s understudy, but the signing of Mamardashvili from Valencia last August made his departure increasingly likely.

This move effectively signals the end of Kelleher’s time at Anfield, giving Liverpool one final opportunity to secure a significant return on their homegrown keeper.

Speaking to Optus Sport after the game, the Republic of Ireland goalkeeper confirmed that he was looking to become a no.1 and that it was something he was going to “look art”:

“It’s really special. Nice atmosphere today with the whole crowd and I made a few appearances this season so it’s nice to win something at the end of the season,” Kelleher said.

“I’ve said it before, I feel like I’m a number one and I think I’m good enough to play week in and week out.”

“That’s what I’m looking to do. This season I was lucky enough to play a lot of games, but it’s definitely something I’m looking at,” the 26-year-old confirmed.

The Republic of Ireland manager, Heimir Hallgrimsson, has already urged the shot-stopper to seek pastures anew:

After being denied a move away from Liverpool last summer, the Irishman has continued to perform admirably when called upon, making 20 appearances this season while Alisson was sidelined with injuries.
