Man Utd now in talks with PL striker with 20 league goals this term, his club want £50m

Manchester United have held talks with Brentford forward Bryan Mbeumo over a summer transfer deal, according to journalist and transfer insider Ben Jacobs.

The Bees want around £50 million from the Red Devils and other suitors to sell the 25-year-old Cameroon international following his impressive individual campaign in 2024-25.

Mbeumo ended the season with 20 goals and seven assists in 38 Premier League appearances after notching 18 league goals and 14 assists across the 2023-24 and 2022-23 campaigns, and Man United could do with his quality, experience and versatility in attack next season.

The Brentford star can play as a right winger and number 9, and he has what it takes to help improve the fortunes of the Red Devils on the pitch following an underwhelming campaign.

Man United scored 44 times in the Premier League this season, finishing 15th, and they need to strengthen in attack if head coach Ruben Amorim is to keep his job beyond his first full season in charge with the Old Trafford club next term.

They have all but signed Wolverhampton Wanderers attacker Matheus Cunha after he agreed a deal to join them, and getting a deal over the line for Mbeumo could be straightforward after Brentford manager Thomas Frank admitted they are open to selling their best players this summer for the right fees.

The Red Devils have also been linked with Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap, with his £30m release clause an attraction, but they face competition from some Premier League clubs for him, and failure to qualify for the Champions League could work against them in his pursuit.

Man United are expected to sell Antony, Jadon Sancho and Marcus Rashford in the coming weeks, while Amorim has told Alejandro Garnacho to find a new club this summer.
