Everton recorded a superb 1-0 victory away at Newcastle in their final game of the season on Sunday, and there was plenty of reason to cheer.
Jordan Pickford delivered an outstanding display to keep Newcastle at bay at St James’ Park, and the former Sunderland star would have been extra satisfied with the win.
Everton fans also got to revel in Anthony Gordon’s misery as he struggled during the game, and the winger was substituted at halftime.
Gordon has been a hated figure in Merseyside since his controversial move to Newcastle three years ago, and one moment in the game has now been highlighted.

Stephen Warnock slams Gordon dive v Everton
Gordon faced the wrath of the Everton travelling support in the clash at Newcastle as he somehow earned a foul off Ashley Young, flinging himself to the ground.

Young could not believe he was penalised, and footage since shows that Gordon dived, and not only should the free kick have gone the other way, but the winger should have been shown a yellow card.
Speaking on Sky Sports News (26 May), former Premier League fullback Stephen Warnock claimed that diving needs to be eradicated immediately.

“You can see the reaction from Ashley Young here – I know Ash moans a lot about quite a few decisions, but this one is so clear and obvious that Anthony Gordon has dived,” Warnock said.
“It’s just beyond me how the referee hasn’t seen that. I mean, look at Ashley Young’s body position when he actually goes in for the challenge.
“His legs are crossed, his arms are in the air, his backside isn’t pushed out to make contact in any way.
“Sometimes you often move your hips towards someone and think ‘I might just get away with that’ and make contact, but they’ve got to try and eradicate it somehow, and it’s got to be yellow cards.”

Young has last laugh against Gordon in Everton win
Young was furious at Gordon after he was penalised for giving a foul away, leading to a free-kick in a dangerous position, but the veteran and Everton ultimately had the last laugh.
Gordon was substituted at half time after his anonymous display, and he could not make any attacking impact, without a single chance created or shot on target.
The 24-year-old came up against Young in his final game for Everton, but the veteran handled him well, and fans loved it early on as the 39-year-old launched a brutal tackle on Gordon in the opening minutes.
Young will now leave with the best wishes of Everton fans, while Gordon is still despised on the blue side of Merseyside, and this difficult performance followed a missed penalty in a 0-0 draw at Goodison Park earlier this season.
The Premier League need to make a change.
