Liverpool FC has announced a special guest appearance for the parade bus this afternoon. Scottish DJ Calvin Harris has been announced by the club as celebrations take place across the city.
The official Liverpool X account posted a picture of the DJ in front of the parade bus with thumbs up. The writing on the front of the parade buses read "Ours Again", with a huge illustration of the Premier League trophy, adorned with red ribbons in the middle.
Sharing the exciting news, Liverpool FC wrote: "This is what you came for. @CalvinHarris ready to go". One fan of the entertainer commented on the post "Let’s go. Vibes are unmatched when Calvin Harris hits the stage!"
A second fan pleased by the announcement commented: "I love how we kind of adopted him into the club hahah." A third response was: "I am so happy for Harris. He played jams wen we missed out on UCL and EPL on last days."
Calvin was in attendance at Anfield yesterday to watch the league champions lift the title. He shared a video online of the moment Van Dijk caused a huge eruption of cheers after lifting the trophy.
In 2022, Calvin, who is responsible for unofficial club anthem One Kiss alongside Dua Lipa, was a special guest on the team bus for the parade, playing a unique set for its duration.
It was a season where Jürgen Klopp's team lifted both the Emirates FA Cup and Carabao Cup at Wembley. At the time, Calvin told Capital FM: "It was the most unreal experience, I think, in my entire life, Obviously I'm a Liverpool fan, but it [One Kiss] didn't become a football anthem, it became a Liverpool anthem specifically, so that happening was bizarre in itself.
"I got chatting to Andy Robertson and he said, 'If there's anything that you could do, you know we're doing this float sort of thing, maybe you could DJ at Anfield, maybe you could DJ on the bus. I'm like, 'Mate, get me on that bus!' It was probably the biggest gig of my life."
The parade this year will shortly get underway, thousands of fans are already out soaking up the atmosphere and celebrating with friends, family and strangers. Local fans and those who are travelling into the city are making themselves heard and seen.
The parade comes after hundreds of Liverpool fans have took over the city centre yesterday evening after the Reds lifted the Premier League trophy. Anfield erupted as Virgil van Dijk lifted the trophy in front of fans.
The streets surrounding Anfield Stadium were packed out with supporters - and today will be no different. It is a weekend that no Liverpool fan will forget in a hurry.
