The summer transfer window will be a long one for FC Barcelona as they get their transfer targets in order. After all, there is a limited budget that they can use and only a few positions where they can reinforce themselves. However, Barcelona will have to act swiftly if they can.
So far in recent weeks, the most concrete reports have suggested that the club would be interested in bringing in a new goalkeeper if possible. For La Blaugrana, it is a position that has undeniably presented certain challenges in recent seasons and it is perhaps time to address those problems.
Uncertainties continue to trouble Barcelona
Moreover, with Wojciech Szczesny’s future beyond this season looking uncertain for now, an additional signing would not exactly hurt. Thus, in terms of transfer targets, it was not surprising to see FC Barcelona be linked to Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia by reputable sources.
The Catalan giants were reportedly interested in acquiring his services and their interest in the player was considered genuine. Unfortunately, it now seems that the transfer could be a bit unlikely due to his own preferences.

Joan Garcia seems unwilling to join for now
As per the latest update from Matteo Moretto, the 24-year-old Spanish goalkeeper is not keen on joining Barcelona this summer. Moreover, he has reportedly even conveyed this information to RCD Espanyol in the last few hours as well.
Instead, Moretto reports, the player’s own preference would be to join the English Premier League. With there being no shortage of interest in his services from various leagues, it would not be difficult to arrange a transfer for him to a club apart from Barcelona.
Time will tell
Perhaps either due to his allegiance to Barça’s direct local rivals or due to the possibility of a potential loan move, the player seems unwilling to join at the moment. While the transfer window is still long, such feelings rarely subside with time but it would still be interesting to see which direction this transfer saga ends up going towards.
