As Ruben Amorim looks set to be given the 2025/2026 season to prove he is the right man for Manchester United, the 40-year-old will be hoping that the recruitment in the summer makes his job easier.
Manchester United lost out on £10.95 million after losing the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur and having missed out on Champions League football, they might not have the finances to splash the cash.
However, United’s frustrated fanbase will keep a close eye on how much the club back Ruben Amorim in the summer as their eventual investment will indicate whether they believe in his project.
Amorim is ready to sell Alejandro Garnacho as his mindset going into the summer seems to be ruthless.
Manchester United should sign Man City target Rayan Ait-Nouri
Manchester United’s rivals such as Liverpool and Manchester City already seem to be getting their teeth sunk ahead of the summer transfer window — as the Red Devils cannot afford to be left further behind them.
Liverpool could sign Florian Wirtz soon as well as Jeremie Frimpong while Fabrizio Romano revealed that City have enquired about signing Rayan Ait-Nouri.

While Manchester City would likely have the upper hand over Manchester United in a race to sign Ait-Nouri, Ruben Amorim should suggest to the decision-makers at Old Trafford that they make a move for him.
The Wolves defender is perfectly suited to Amorim’s system, as he has a wealth of experience playing as a left wing-back and has looked the part in such an advanced position.
Ruben Amorim likes Luke Shaw but he remains far too injury-prone, Patrick Dorgu is yet to settle at United since signing for them from Lecce and Diogo Dalot has looked out of his depth as a left wing-back this season.
Only time will tell whether Amorim fully trusts Harry Amass to be his trusted left wing-back for the future but even if he does, Ait-Nouri’s addition would add an injection of experience and quality into Manchester United’s squad.

Furthermore, with how technically sound the Algerian is, he would instantly help United retain possession and control games much better than they currently do if they secure his services.
With Ait-Nouri, who is valued at £50 million also capable of playing in a back four and drifting into midfield, he would give Ruben Amorim the tactical flexibility to play him across multiple roles — making him the perfect signing for Manchester United.
Rayan Ait-Nouri, Patrick Dorgu and Luke Shaw stats compared
When comparing his stats to those of Manchester United’s current options as well, the former Angers technician stands out.

There are not many metrics where one can prove that either of Shaw or Dorgu have outshone Ait-Nouri.
Considering Ait-Nouri is Premier League-proven as well, he could instantly become a key player for Ruben Amorim — and at the very least, Manchester United could try a hand at hijacking Manchester City’s pursuit of him.
