Man United are keen to sign a new striker. They have been linked with multiple top names across whole Europe. Amidst this, the latest reports state that they have ended the pursuit of a top striker.
United have ended a very tough season last night. They did end the season with victory but it helped them to move only to the 15th position in Premier League. In addition, the lost Europa League final and have ended the season without trophy.
There are many changes expected in United squad this summer. Ruben Amorim will be backed to have his say. The Portugese wants to resolve the goal scoring issue as soon as possible. He wants a new striker as top priority.
United are ready to sell both Hojlund and Zirkzee. They want to replace them with a clinical striker. As of now, multiple names have been linked amongst which one is Viktor Gyokeres. But, the latest reports say that United are not in the race for the Sweden striker anymore.
Man United not in the race for Gyokeres
According to Florian Plettenberg, a move for Gyokeres to United is almost off. Neither the player or the club is interested in the deal anymore. Instead, United are focused to land Matheus Cuna who is said to be on the verge of joining United.
Gyokeres has €100 million release clause in his current contract. But, he will cost much less than that. United could have opted to sign him if they had qualified for the Champions League. But, now it is very difficult to agree the deal.
On the other hand, Cunha is ready to join United without UCL football. He will cost £62.5 million which is his release clause. As for Gyokeres, Arsenal is said to be very likely his next destination. Mikel Arteta is huge admirer of the 26 year old.
