Everton make Jack Harrison transfer decision as Leeds United's rivals release statement

Everton are continuing negotiations with Carlos Alcaraz for a permanent contract, but the on-loan quartet of Jack Harrison, Jesper Lindstrom, Orel Mangala and Armando Broja will return to their parent clubs next month.

Alcaraz, who scored the winning goal at Newcastle on the season's final day, joined the club from Flamengo in February and has performed well enough to justify the club pursuing a £15million transfer.

However, Harrison – who is returning to Leeds United after two seasons with the Toffees, Napoli's Lindstrom, Mangala, who returned to Lyon following a knee injury in January, and Chelsea striker Broja, plagued by injuries, are not being retained. Harrison made 34 Premier League appearances for Everton this term, scoring once.

Our sister title, Liverpool ECHO, says the Toffees had options to make the Lindstrom and Broja deals permanent but do not appear willing to trigger those clauses. Broja, Mangala and Lindstrom all suffered serious injuries at various points in the 2024/25 campaign, with Mangala facing a season-ending knee injury at Brighton and Hove Albion in January.

"We would like to thank all our loan players, who have contributed to the positive steps we made on the pitch," manager David Moyes said.

"They all embraced what it means to play for this club, and their attitude and commitment throughout their time at Everton was first class."

Everton have several other players whose contracts are expiring, the most notable being Dominic Calvert-Lewin who, after another season marred by injuries, has seen his options for a move away dwindle.
