Barcelona outcast forward meeting with agent to finalise next move – report

Ansu Fati has endured another forgettable campaign and appears set for a departure from FC Barcelona this season.

The 22-year-old La Masia forward returned to his boyhood club last summer after a forgettable loan stint at Brighton & Hove Albion but things did not get any better for him.

Physical problems, inconsistent form, and a lack of minutes have combined to him now seeking a summer departure, with Barça, too, intent on parting ways with their current No. 10.

AS Monaco have appeared as a likely destination for Ansu, with a loan move including a permanent buy option said to be in discussion.

However, earlier today, reports emerged claiming that Chelsea, too, had thrown their hat in the ring and put forth an offer for the Spaniard.

Mendes arrived in Barcelona earlier today and is scheduled to meet with the club officials in the coming hours, with multiple topics likely to come up during the discussions.

One of those will be the future of Fati, who has no place in Hansi Flick’s plans moving forward at the Catalan club.

As such, Mendes is in a meeting with the La Masia graduate to discuss the next steps and define his future, ahead of the meeting with the club executives later today.

As mentioned earlier, Monaco and Chelsea have emerged as potential destinations for the young attacker once tipped to be the future of the Blaugrana.

It now remains to be seen what decision Ansu and his camp make as Mendes works to secure a move that can help him resurrect his career while benefitting Barcelona financially.
