AS Monaco seemed to be in charge, with reports that Fati has agreed in principle to join the Ligue 1 club on a season-long loan with an option to purchase. The French club, which will be playing the Champions League next season, presents Fati with an opportunity to restart his career on a big European stage.
Chelsea’s late offer represents a more enticing alternative. The Blues have already qualified for the Champions League, and they may require more firepower in attack. Fati’s prior experience in the UK on loan at Brighton & Hove Albion may make a move back to the nation a serious option.
Barcelona, eager to get Fati’s future settled soon, would be keen to settle for a permanent transfer or terminate the contract, depending on the financial terms. The club’s resolve to negotiate might actually influence Fati’s decision between the two teams.
Chelsea Eye Multiple Striker Targets to Strengthen Attack This Summer
Chelsea have stepped up their hunt to sign attacking additions and strengthen their attacking department prior to the 2025/26 season. Among the top targets is Eintracht Frankfurt’s highly productive striker Hugo Ekitike, who has scored 22 goals this season. Frankfurt are said to be willing to sell Ekitike for about €80-100 million.
The Blues are also in contention for the signing of Ipswich Town’s Liam Delap. The 22-year-old striker has an £30 million release clause activated after Ipswich’s relegation. Now, the Blues’ Champions League qualification has put them in a better position in the race to sign Delap.
