New Real Madrid boss Xabi Alonso has addressed Rodrygo's future amid recent speculation linking the forward with a move to Arsenal.
The Gunners have already been linked with several potential new signings ahead of the summer transfer window, one of whom is Rodrygo.
Mikel Arteta's side finished the Premier League season with a 2-1 win away at Southampton on the final day of the campaign on Sunday. Now, attention will swiftly turn towards the transfer market and which players may move to the Emirates Stadium.
Rodrygo has been mentioned in several reports as being a player of interest to Arsenal. The Brazilian scored 13 goals with 10 assists for Madrid this season, and appears to have an uncertain future following the departure of former manager Carlo Ancelotti.
Alonso was introduced as Madrid's new head coach on Monday after the news was confirmed over the weekend. The former midfielder was asked about Rodrygo's future amid speculation he could swap the Spanish capital for North London and gave a defiant answer.
“Rodrygo is a Real Madrid player, and I will speak with everyone who is part of Real Madrid," Alonso told reporters on Monday during his official presentation as Madrid's new manager.
“Rodrygo is a spectacular player—and we will need him. He deserves it, and so do we."
Rodrygo is not the only player to be linked with a move to Arsenal ahead of the summer transfer window.
In terms of forwards, Sporting Lisbon's Viktor Gyokeres and RB Leipzig's Benjamin Sesko have also been credited as potential targets to be added to the Gunners squad for next season.
The summer transfer window will open on June 1 thanks to the Club World Cup and will close on June 10. The window will then reopen on June 16 for the rest of the summer before deadline day on September 1.
