Manchester United are set to rake in some serious money on their post-season tour of Asia, jetting off mere hours after finishing their final game of the 2024/25 season. Ruben Amorim delivered a defiant message to the Old Trafford faithful after their final day 2-0 victory over Aston Villa saw them finish 15th in what was a woeful Premier League campaign.
However, the players still have one more job to do before going on their holidays, as they will have games against ASEAN All-Stars and Hong Kong on the 28th and 30th of May. While many have criticised the decision due to the added toll it will take on the players who have already played 60 games this term, the money the club will earn from the trip perhaps sheds some light on why they are embarking on it.

According to a report from the BBC, United's revenue from the tour is said to reach $10 million, equivalent to £7.8 million. Amorim has described the trip as a 'small sacrifice' made in order to connect with some of the fans from around the globe, while former club captain Harry Maguire has claimed that the players have 'no right' to argue with the club's decision after the disappointing campaign, though he stopped short of agreeing with the plans himself.

The squad travelling for the trip is made up of a mixture of experience and youth, with some eyebrow-raising inclusions. The most obvious is Alejandro Garnacho, who was dropped from the matchday squad against Aston Villa after being told he could find a new club. Andre Onana has also gone despite his exclusion on Sunday.
Jonny Evans is set to leave the club when his contract expires but has joined the tour as a final farewell, while Victor Lindelof and Christian Eriksen have not boarded the flight ahead of their impending departures.
Bruno Fernandes, Mason Mount, Casemiro, Amad Diallo and Manuel Ugarte also travel, as does Rasmus Hojlund. Joshua Zirkzee has not been included in the squad, despite making a miraculous recovery from a hamstring injury in time for the Europa League final defeat against Tottenham.
Jaydan Kamason, Godwill Kukonki, Tyler Fletcher, Sekou Kone and Jack Moorhouse are the pick of the youth stars included, along with Ayden Heaven and Chido Obi Martin, who have both featured in the first team this season.
