Chelsea approaching £111m transfer windfall amid Victor Osimhen interest

Chelsea will receive £16million for qualifying for next season's Champions League. The Blues secured a place amongst Europe's elite with a hard fought 1-0 win against Nottingham Forest on the final day of the 2024/25 Premier League season on Sunday.

A second-half goal from Levi Colwill was enough for a resilient Chelsea to silence the City Ground and ensure a place in Europe's top competition next term. Ahead of what is expected to be another busy summer transfer window for the west Londoners, it is a welcome financial boost. And they will add to that on Wednesday evening, one way or another.

Chelsea take on Real Betis in the Conference League final in Wroclaw, Poland, later this week as they look to win the third-tier European competition for the first time in the club's history. Should they beat the Spaniards, Chelsea will be handed £5.9million. If they lose, though, they will receive a more modest £3.37million.

Next month is where the real money is at as far as the Blues are concerned. Chelsea are taking part in the revamped FIFA Club World Cup in the United States and the winner of the competition will be taking home a whopping $125million (£92.2million). Altogether, all being well for the west Londoners, they could generate £111million over the course of the summer through prize money from non-domestic competitions alone.

It is no secret Chelsea are in the market for a striker and are looking to add support and competition for Nicolas Jackson. The Blues are considering a number of options and one of the most exciting names for the supporters has been Victor Osimhen, a long-term target for the club. Chelsea wanted to sign the Nigerian last summer but opted against meeting his wage demands.

football.london understands that is still a concern for the Blues, but a move for the Galatasaray loanee has not been ruled out by sources. The likes of Hugo Ekitike, Liam Delap, Benjamin Sesko, Viktor Gyokeres and Jonathan David have also all been considered by the club this summer. However, nothing is advanced just yet for any of the aforementioned names, although Chelsea are looking to get business done as soon as possible.

Enzo Maresca has made no secret of his desire to sign a striker in the summer, though the Chelsea head coach remained coy about the club's plans when asked about it in the immediate aftermath of Sunday's win at Nottingham Forest. Asked about Champions League football helping the Blues to sign their main transfer targets, Maresca replied: "Now, I'm not thinking about next summer, to be honest.

"Today is a day that we have to be happy because we brought this club where this club has to be in the most important European competition. And we did today and this is the most important day for them. Now from tomorrow we start to prepare for Wednesday final and then we have days to see for next season."
