The Scotland defender, who came through the ranks at Parkhead before his record move to the Emirates in 2019, will officially become a Celtic player again at the start of July. He’s agreed a pre-contract with the Hoops and will link up with Brendan Rodgers’ squad ahead of pre-season.

On Sunday, Tierney was handed a rare start in Arsenal’s final game of the season away to Southampton. He made the most of it, capping his time in North London with a goal in a 2-1 win – a fitting farewell for a player who, while not a regular in recent seasons, always maintained the backing of the Gunners’ support.

Tierney featured 20 times this term but has found opportunities increasingly limited under Mikel Arteta. Still, his final outing was met with warmth from the travelling Arsenal fans, who chanted “there’s only one Kieran Tierney” as he left the pitch for the last time in red and white.

It was a send-off that spoke to his professionalism and popularity in the dressing room and among the support. Now, the 27-year-old returns to Celtic with a point to prove and unfinished business in green and white.

Tierney made his senior debut under Ronny Deila in 2015 and quickly became a fan favourite at Parkhead. Ten years on from that first appearance, he’s on his way back to Paradise, this time as a seasoned international, a Premier League and La Liga campaigner, and a player ready to bring his experience back home.
