Man United and Everton have made contact with Liam Delap’s camp as the race to sign the Ipswich Town striker hots up, sources have told Football Insider.
The Premier League pair are understood to have discussed contract offers with the 22-year-old after a season that saw him score 12 times in the top flight despite the Tractor Boys’ relegation.
Delap, an England Under-21 international, will be allowed to leave Ipswich once the release clause in his current contract has been met.
Despite missing out on a Champions League place following their Europa League final defeat to Tottenham, Football Insider understands that Manchester United remain interested in securing the forward’s signature.
Delap now has to decide whether to join a club where he will be first-choice striker or move to an elite team where he may have more of a fringe role.

Liam Delap has big decision looming
One big factor for Delap to consider is whether any potential new club can offer him sufficient minutes. At Everton, where the future of current striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin remains up in the air after a season plagued by injuries, he could feasibly start the 2025/26 campaign as the club’s main attacker.

Likewise, a move to a club such as Newcastle United could see him play more of a fringe role behind Alexander Isak.
With Callum Wilson and William Osula so far playing second fiddle to Isak, Delap may well be put off by a move that would see him immediately down in the pecking order.
At Manchester United, however, a summer of uncertainty could play into his hands.

Hojlund’s Old Trafford exit could sway Delap’s thinking
With Man United likely to sell Rasmus Hojlund according to their former chief scout Mick Brown, the path to first-team football could become a lot clearer should Delap opt for Old Trafford.
Having spent a year at Manchester City’s academy as a youngster, he already has an understanding of life in the North West and could be given every opportunity to spearhead United’s forward line next season.
A move elsewhere comes with no guarantees, but Delap’s next switch will be made with minutes in mind.
