Liverpool title parade LIVE: Updates and stream info as thousands of fans celebrate

The party is only just getting started in Liverpool. Several weeks ago they were confirmed as champions, on Sunday they were presented with a trophy and today they'll parade it through the streets of the city.

The Reds have been a class above this season and they enjoyed some stunning scenes as they partied inside Anfield. Now the players will jump on an open top bus and make their way though the centre of Liverpool to celebrate with their fans once more.

This Premier League success has been a long time coming for many on the red half of Merseyside. The Covid lockdown in 2020 meant that supporters couldn't embrace the moment with players, but there's no danger of that this time.

It will be a swansong for the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, who leaves this summer. Arne Slot will also get the chance to experience it for the first time having led the Reds to the title at the first time of asking.

Mirror Football will keep you across the celebrations throughout the day.

Salah steals the show

Fans favourite Mo Salah, 32, the Premier League's top goalscorer, waved from the top of the bus as the fans sang his name to the tune of 'All Sit Down' by James.

He stood alongside team mates Dominik Szoboszlai and Curtis Jones, both 24, Alisson Becker, 32, and 21-year-old Conor Bradley as they all applauded their loyal supporters.

Police issue warning

Police warnings against using flares were largely ignored despite 17 people being injured by pyrotechnics during Sunday's celebrations.

A ban on flying drones was put in place for the parade, with drone operators being warned they will be committing an offence if they ignore these rules.

Chief inspector Chris Barnes, the silver commander for Merseyside police, urged fans to stay safe for the party, and avoid using pyrotechnics again.

“We want everyone who attends the victory parade to have an enjoyable time," he said. "Nobody should have to suffer an injury as a result of the reckless actions of another individual.

“We know that people want to enjoy the party atmosphere in the city but it is important that we think of everyone’s safety and wellbeing.

“The parade will have its own professionally organised special effects, including confetti cannons and fireworks, which will be adding to the fantastic atmosphere in a safe and controlled manner. I urge people to leave it to the professionals.”

Weather didn't get the memo

It has begun raining in Liverpool and there's a number of umbrellas on the rise.

The forecast was expected to go against the parade and the drizzle has arrived.

Trent's final goodbye

The right-back has opted not to sign a new deal at Anfield and is expected to head to Real Madrid.

Trent Alexander-Arnold was in tears after Sunday's game, where he was able to lift the trophy once again.

This will be his final act in Red as he laps up the fans' love.

Some of the class of 2020 still remain but a number of the squad are winning the title for the first time.

A word on Slot

To replace Jurgen Klopp and do what Arne Slot has done cannot be overstated.

The Reds were wondering whether they'd be able to retain the quality they'd seen for so many years, but the Dutchman has been his own man and achieved huge things in his first year.

Since minute one Slot has looked composed and under control. He quickly made his tweaks and has handled the off-pitch issues with ease.

The party is getting started

It feels as if the Liverpool players have been celebrating for a month straight. That won't stop more today though. Players are on the bus now and will start snaking through the packed city streets shortly.

The main man Mo

We aren't too far away from the celebrations really getting started. Salah is sure to be central to most of it after another stunning season.

His contract saga now seems a distant memory. He will be spending at least two more years in the Premier League. And he isn't showing ANY signs of slowing down.

Crowds causing major delays

There is a huge clamour to get to the parade - which is only half hour away.

As a result several train stations are seeing huge delays.

Some advice for those travelling in Liverpool

The Strand will be closed northbound from the Upper Parliament Street/Great George Street junction to Leeds Street/Great Howard Street junction from around 4am to 10pm.

The southbound lane will be closed from roughly 12pm to 8pm. Leeds Street City bound will also be closed from 12pm until around 8pm.

Liverpool City Council has strongly advised people do not drive – particularly into the city centre. They have asked fans to either walk and try and view the parade as close to home as possible.

Train stations filling up...

Good luck to any fan travelling to Liverpool for the parade today.

There already pictures and videos of train stations looking absolutely rammed as supporters desperately attempt to hitch a ride to Liverpool.

A video has gone viral of fans swarming Birmingham New Street station, which is completely mobbed and supporters are hardly moving.

Meanwhile, the streets are so packed you can hardly see the pavement - and it doesn't even start for hours!
