The New England Patriots traded Joe Milton to the Dallas Cowboys during the offseason, landing a fifth-round pick in return. Moving on from Milton for a fifth-round pick was a bit questionable, but from the Patriots' perspective, they had to get a deal done this offseason.
There isn't much of a place for him to play on this New England team with Drake Maye as the long-term QB1, so moving on from him had its benefits.
Unfortunately for Milton, it isn't likely that he'll have much chance to start with the Cowboys unless Dak Prescott gets injured.
However, according to a recent report, he's been polarizing during his first few practices with the Cowboys, with reporters saying that the experience was on full display, adding that the highs were fun, but the lows were clear.

“The Joe Milton Experience was on full display today,” wrote Fort Worth Star-Telegram's Nick Harris. “The highs were fun and the lows were definitely notable.”
That's exactly the type of player that Milton was expected to be when he was drafted by the Patriots in the sixth round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
He showed signs at Tennessee of being an above-average quarterback and has the arm strength to make many throws.
He impressed during the Patriots' Week 18 game against the Buffalo Bills, throwing for 241 yards and one touchdown on 29 passes. It was his only appearance during the season, so there's still plenty for him to learn at the NFL level.
For now, he'll still be a backup, but if he can impress in training camp, perhaps he'll get a chance with the Cowboys or another team in the future.
