Benoit Badiashile, a regular in our Conference League campaign, has been looking forward to the final against Real Betis and the merits victory in Poland would bring.
The defender has featured in 12 of our 14 games in the competition so far, including the play-off round against Servette all the way back in August.
Badiashile has been an assured presence throughout a campaign in which we have been notably solid at the back. He has been happy to play his part.
‘Every game is important to show you are a good player, and I have tried to play as well as I can in this competition,’ stated the 24-year-old.
‘It’s been good for the team to play in Europe. It has helped us to grow as a team. Chelsea are a big club and we have to win every trophy we can, so it’s normal for us that we have been favourites for every game we have played.
‘Now the coach has told us to keep the same intensity and the same desire and to prepare for this game like normal.’
Badiashile lists Isco and Manchester United loanee Antony among the Betis players the Blues will need to keep an eye on. If we are to stop the Spanish side and make an impact at the other end, Chelsea will become the first club to win the four current UEFA trophies.
That is one of several reasons why victory in Wroclaw would be so important for Chelsea, according to Badiashile.
‘This final is a good opportunity to win something all together,’ he said.
‘It’s important for the culture of the club. There are not many players who have won trophies. Building a good team takes time. Winning this trophy would give us a boost to prepare for the Club World Cup and then for next season.
‘It’s also something crazy to know we can win all the competitions!’ concluded Badiashile, who is focused on playing his part in Chelsea achieving a historic feat.
