Why the Bucks believe Giannis will stay in Milwaukee?

The Milwaukee Bucks are expecting that the presence of head coach Doc Rivers will make Giannis Antetokounmpo stay with the team.

Trade rumors surrounding Giannis Antetokounmpo have intensified following the Milwaukee Bucks' first-round playoff elimination at the hands of the Indiana Pacers.

Despite strong interest from several teams hoping to acquire the two-time MVP, the Bucks remain the most likely destination for Antetokounmpo next season.

According to NBA insider Marc Stein, Milwaukee is counting on head coach Doc Rivers to play a key role in keeping their franchise cornerstone.

"The Bucks are also hoping that the presence of Doc Rivers as coach can provide some sort of boost. Antetokounmpo and Rivers are believed to have a strong working relationship," Stein reported.

If Giannis chooses not to request a trade and stays with the team, it will mark his 13th season in Milwaukee. Over his 12-year tenure so far, he has won one NBA championship (in 2021) and earned two league MVP awards.

Last season, Antetokounmpo arguably had the best statistical year of his career, averaging 30.4 points, 11.9 rebounds, and 6.5 assists per game.
