Exclusive: Manchester United hold talks with 20-goal forward, Ineos have specific driving force behind potential deal

Manchester United have held talks with Bryan Mbeumo over a move for the Brentford forward.

In addition to a move for Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, Manchester United are interested in Brentford attacker Bryan Mbeumo.

A move for Cunha is almost complete, and United are continuing to explore adding further attacking options to the team’s goal-shy attack.

Bryan Mbeumo is attracting interest after his best Premier League season to date, scoring 20 goals and providing 7 assists in 38 appearances for Brentford.

Manchester United latest on Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United believe Bryan Mbeumo’s versatility would make him a valuable addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad.

A move for Mbeumo would come in addition to Cunha, and a centre-forward, and United are clearly keen on adding Premier League-proven options.

Transfer insider Graeme Bailey tells United In Focus that talks have been held between United and Mbeumo’s representatives.

Mbeumo has also held talks with Arsenal and Newcastle. Amid a scramble for his signature, Brentford are seeking £60 million for their top goalscorer.

United are also considering Lyon’s Rayan Cherki for the position, who would cost half the price.

Manchester United interest driven through analytics

Manchester United’s pursuit of Bryan Mbeumo is being led through analytics, with data heavily supporting a move for the Brentford star.

Bailey explained: “Bryan Mbuemo’s stats were great last season and I am told analytically, which United are taking an increasing interest in, he is amongst the best in Europe.

“For certain positions the club want versatility like with Cunha, Amad and Bruno Fernandes. United know it will be a tough ask to get him, but the interest is solid.”

A lack of European football makes United’s task tougher compared to competitors, but the attraction of signing for the Red Devils remains evergreen for players.

In addition to his goals scored, per FBRef, Mbeumo leads the Premier League in ‘Expected Assists’ and is fourth in the league for ‘Goal Creating Actions’.
