Federico Chiesa appeared a tad bewildered atop Liverpool's open-top bus as the Reds paraded their Premier League trophy through the city. The Italian was the sole summer signing by Arne Slot, joining from Juventus in an initial £10m deal.

However, his debut season on Merseyside was largely spent on the sidelines due to fitness woes. He managed 14 appearances across all competitions, featuring six times in the Premier League and only earning his first start in the English top-flight in the second-last match of the season against Brighton and Hove Albion.

Chiesa didn't make the cut for Liverpool's final matchday squad as they clawed back to a 1-1 draw with Crystal Palace.

Nonetheless, he was right in the thick of the jubilations, albeit a bit bashfully, as the Liverpool team celebrated their trophy presentation with fans.

With the trophy in hand in front of the Kop, his mates kept egging him on to hoist it high for the supporters, reports the Liverpool Echo.

They then piled onto him, joining fans in a spontaneous singalong of the Italian's catchy, if slightly risqué, chant.

Meanwhile, Chiesa was seen revelling in the festivities atop the open-top bus, though he seemed a touch puzzled at one point.

Brandishing a 'Champions' scarf to the fans, the Italian striker paused for photos before spotting something amiss.

The puzzled forward realised he was holding the scarf upside down and took a moment to correct his 'blunder'.

Chiesa's future at Liverpool is still up in the air given his limited role, with Slot previously urging the forward to prove his worth in pre-season.

However, following the Crystal Palace match, the Dutch manager admitted that some of his squad members might seek pastures new after playing a peripheral role this season.
