Report: Surprise development involving Wolves captain Nelson Semedo as Molineux exit looms

The future of Nelson Semedo has been a major talking point at Wolves over the last few months.

The wing-back’s contract is about to expire at Molineux, and the feeling is that he will be moving on.

Wolves have put a four-year contract on the table for Semedo.

But the player has done some things recently to suggest he won’t be signing it, such as filming a goodbye video just in case, and having a removal van at his residence.

Semedo was also serenaded by Wolves fans after the draw with Brentford, and the captain looked very emotional as he walked about Molineux.

He also gave a post-match interview where he looked to be on the verge of breaking down in tears.

Nelson Semedo is highly likely to move on – and it has now been surprisingly claimed that a huge Premier League club are interested in him.

It’s been claimed by Football Transfers that Manchester United are interested in Semedo ahead of his contract expiring at Wolves.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Of course, United are already in for one player from Wolves in Matheus Cunha, with confirmation of that move expected soon.

But United could now move for Cunha’s Wolves teammate Semedo.

Apparently, United raised his name internally while they were having talks about Cunha.

Not much more information is offered, other than United seeing him as an ‘opportunity’.

Obviously, Wolves played the same system as United, and Semedo has proven himself as a very good Premier League wing-back over the years.

Former Wolves midfielder Dave Edwards actually claimed Semedo is one of the best wing-backs in the Premier League.

Semedo to Man United would be a kick in the teeth for Wolves

This has come rather out of the blue, and will likely not be a claim that goes down too well with Wolves fans.

United are already poaching Cunha for the value of his £62.5 million release clause.

It would be a bitter blow to see Semedo follow the Brazilian to Old Trafford.

We’ll see what happens, but most fans would hope Semedo goes abroad so that there’s no chance of him playing against Wolves.

Previously, Benfica have been linked with Semedo and it’s not out of the question he could rejoin his former club.
