It was a solid season overall for the Golden State Warriors as they reached the second round of the playoffs after struggling to begin the season.
The Warriors’ season did not end as they had hoped as they lost in five games to the Minnesota Timberwolves in the second round, though Golden State was without their star guard Stephen Curry.
While the Warriors were able to turn things around after adding Jimmy Butler at the trade deadline, they still have some key areas to improve on this summer, especially the center position and roster depth.

Of course, Golden State also has a major decision to make regarding restricted free agent Jonathan Kuminga this offseason and they are expected to move on from him after head coach Steve Kerr benched him early in the playoffs.
With this in mind, CBS Sports’ Kyle Boone has the Warriors selecting Alex Toohey 41st overall in the 2025 NBA Draft to improve their forward position and roster depth.
“Toohey turned some heads at the NBA Draft Combine with strong measurements and solid shooting in drills. The Australian product just turned 21 and has made good use of his time the last few seasons in the NBL,” Boone wrote.
Toohey is an international prospect who played the last two seasons in the NBL in Australia.
Last season, the 21-year-old forward averaged 10.6 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.4 steals and 0.8 blocks per game while shooting 44.9% from the field and 31.0% from three-point range.
He was able to improve a ton from his first season in the NBL, especially his three-point shooting which should continue to improve during his development.
Toohey has rose up some draft boards as many have him hovering around a late first-round to early second-round selection and with his defensive abilities and improved scoring, he could work out well in Golden State, especially if they decide to move on from Kuminga this summer.
