'No reason': Callum Wilson speaks up about his future amid talks of a new incentive-based deal…

**Callum Wilson's future seems very much up in the air right now as the Newcastle United striker's contract is due to expire next month.**

While Newcastle haven't offered the No 9 a new contract, The Athletic have reported that an [incentive-based deal is on the table](https://nufcfeed.com/newcastle-united-make-decision-on-callum-wilsons-future-and-now-striker-must-decide-what-to-do-next-1341679) should the striker wish to stay at the club.

It very much sounds like a pay-as-you-play deal for the striker who has missed a lot of football through injury during his time at Newcastle.

Meanwhile, Leeds United and Everton both hold an interest in signing Wilson should he choose to leave Newcastle.

Callum Wilson has his eyes on the World Cup

-------------------------------------------

Earlier, we suggested that Wilson's next steps will depend heavily on how he feels and what he believes he can still offer, and it seems that he's already given us that answer.

Speaking on the High Performance podcast, Wilson was asked if he still has ambitions left in football, and the England forward gave an emphatic response.

> “Yeah, massive. For me in my mind, there’s no reason why I can’t play in the World Cup again next year. That’s the kind of mindset that I’ll have.”

It's nice to have dreams, isn't it?

-----------------------------------

We have to applaud his mindset and his determination, and as much as we love the man, we think he needs to take a minute to really think about what is realistic.

Although having said that, if Thomas Tuchel is happy to keep calling up Jordan Henderson, why won't he call up Callum Wilson if he's fit and in form?

If he genuinely has eyes on playing in the World Cup, then he is probably better off leaving Newcastle to go to a club where he'll get regular first-team football, as he's not going to get much ahead of Alexander Isak.
