Liverpool will try to get a deal done for Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz this week - with Fabrizio Romano writing in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter that talks for the German will continue from Monday onwards in the hopes of getting a deal done.
The Reds won the Premier League in late April after Arne Slot's men steamrollered their way to the top-flight title, but that won't see them stop there with a flurry of early activity. Jeremie Frimpong looks close to joining, and his Leverkusen teammate Wirtz could soon follow alongside the likes of Julian Alvarez and Bournemouth defender Milos Kerkez.
Romano: Liverpool Will Aim to Get Wirtz Done 'This Week'
Florian Wirtz has been on Liverpool's radar for quite some time

But Wirtz would be the marquee signing, and fans will be hoping that their recruitment team can land a deal for the German in the coming days. The playmaker has had Bayern Munich and Manchester City on his case in previous months, but Liverpool appear to have won the race.

And Romano has stated that the Reds could try to get a deal done in the coming days, revealing that the Anfield club will try to get a deal done this week for certain - with talks continuing from Monday onwards. He wrote in his GIVEMESPORT newsletter:
"Liverpool will try to get it done this week for sure. Talks will continue from today."
Liverpool already have Dominik Szoboszlai in the attacking midfield role, and the Hungarian has done well this season with 17 goal contributions in all competitions, helping the club to the title, a League Cup final and the Champions League knockout rounds before defeat to eventual finalists Paris Saint-Germain.
But the German has 69 goal involvements in the past two seasons, and whilst Szoboszlai's efforts aren't going unnoticed, Wirtz is evidently a class above, which will stand Liverpool in good stead for the future if they land the Bundesliga star.
Beating their Premier League rivals to his signing would be a real statement of intent, and although it would be a league-highest fee, Wirtz's achievements in the game at the age of just 22 are remarkable; 140 Bundesliga games have garnered 35 goals and 47 assists, and having made his way into the German team, those numbers should be expected to continue for both club and country for many years to come.
