A man has been detained after a car hit pedestrians in the UK city of Liverpool during celebrations over the local football club's Premier League victory.
The parade had been taking place in the city's centre on Monday evening local time when police were called.
In a statement, Merseyside Police said they were "currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre".
"We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday 26 May, following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.
"The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.
"Emergency services are currently on the scene. We will issue more updates as we have them."
The BBC reported that local police were urging residents to stay away from the area.
The North West Ambulance Service said it was supporting an emergency response in Liverpool.
Pictures from the scene showed a large emergency response, including ambulances and police.
Before the incident, victorious players from Liverpool Football Club had toured packed streets in central Liverpool in an open-top double-decker bus.
