A man has been detained by police after a number of people have been hit by a car driven into crowds.
Merseyside Police confirmed several people have been hit by a car in Liverpool city centre this evening (May 26).
The car has been stopped, the force has said.
The incident follows the Liverpool FC parade heading through the city centre, which attracted thousands to the city.

A Merseyside Police spokesperson told the ECHO: "We are currently dealing with reports of a road traffic collision in Liverpool city centre.
"We were contacted at just after 6pm today, Monday May, 26 following reports a car had been in collision with a number of pedestrians on Water Street.
"The car stopped at the scene and a male has been detained.
"Emergency services are currently on the scene.
"We will issue more updates as we have them."
The ambulance service has said that paramedics are 'assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services'. The ambulance service added that its 'priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible'.
A North West Ambulance Service (NWAS) spokesperson said: "NWAS is supporting an incident in Liverpool city centre, following reports of a road traffic collision.
"We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible.
"Updates will be published [by NWAS] and Mersey Police as we know more."
