Cesc Fabregas once admitted he used to hate Premier League star - then they became Chelsea…

Cesc Fabregas first made a name for himself at Arsenal. Arriving from Barcelona's fabled La Masia academy as a 16-year-old, and quickly established himself as a talented midfielder.

The Spaniard would win the FA Cup, play in a Champions League final, and lift the World Cup before moving back to the Catalan giants. At Barca, he would win more honours, including La Liga and the Copa del Rey, before returning to the Premier League.

Former manager Arsene Wenger turned down the opportunity to sign Fabregas, so he ended up at Chelsea in 2014. Considering the Blues were fierce London rivals, this was a controversial move. The Spaniard may have had some personal doubts about the move too, especially as he'd clashed with one player at Stamford Bridge in the past.

Fabregas "Disliked" John Terry

"We had a lot of confrontations"

The retired midfielder's time at Chelsea would be well-spent, as he lifted two Premier League titles, the FA Cup, the League Cup, and the Europa League. However, the early period of his time with the Blues may have been a little awkward.

As a former Arsenal captain, Fabregas was no stranger to confrontation, and he would reveal to Sky Sports in 2017 that he had hated John Terry in the past. He said:

"He is the type of player that I had many battles with. I disliked him very much at some point playing for Arsenal, we had a lot of confrontations, but one thing I always had for him was respect."

It's not hard to dig out examples of the pair clashing when they were opponents for Arsenal and Chelsea. In one example, Terry flew into the Spaniard and picked up a yellow card that almost certainly would have been given as a red in the VAR era.

On another occasion, Fabregas lunged at Frank Lampard. Although he didn't make any contact, the intent was clear and Terry raced a good 20 yards to go over and confront the Arsenal ace.

The legendary midfielder would grow to be a fond teammate of Terry's during their time at Chelsea, though. In that same 2017 interview, Fabregas remarked:

"He showed to be, before a great man, and then a great player. He showed he will always be a great captain for this team and I have to tell him a big, big, big thanks."

When Terry left in 2017, Fabregas would send him a signed Chelsea shirt with a heartfelt comment. Although it might not go down too well with Arsenal fans, as he wrote: "It's been a pleasure and honour to play with you my friend, my only regret is that we didn't do it sooner"
