Liverpool Ambulance Service releases statement after multiple pedestrians hit

The Liverpool Ambulance Service have released a statement after a man was detained by Merseyside Police for plowing into a crowd of fans who were celebrating the Premier League title win.

The Prime Minister has been made aware of the situation, reportedly being kept abreast of the developing situation in the Liverpool city centre. Additionally, a spokesperson for the North West Ambulance Service stated: "NWAS is supporting an incident in Liverpool city centre, following reports of a road traffic collision.

"We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible. Updates will be published on this page and Mersey Police as we know more."

There were also reports that a nearby restaurant, Riva, had been converted into a makeshift emergency room to treat injured people. An air ambulance also was called in to help evacuate the injured, as officials piece together details of the incident.

The Liverpool City Council also released a statement on social media in the wake of the incident, posting on X: "We are currently liaising with Merseyside Police regarding an incident on Water Street in the City Centre. Updates to follow."
