Facing a 2-0 deficit coming into Sunday’s game against the Indiana Pacers, some believed that the New York Knicks were on their way to potentially being swept. But instead, the Knicks showed the kind of resilience that has been evident all postseason long from New York, setting a new NBA record in the process.
In Sunday’s Game 3 matchup, it appeared as if the Pacers were on their way to going up 3-0 in the series, pushing their lead all the way up to 20 points in the third quarter.
But instead, the Knicks did what they have done all postseason long, clawing back in the game slowly but surely, giving themselves a chance down the stretch in the fourth quarter.
With under two minutes to go, Knicks star Jalen Brunson would make the biggest shot of the game to give the Knicks a 100-98 lead that they would not relinquish, going on to come away with a 106-100 victory to give themselves new life in the series.
The win was obviously a monumentally crucial one for the Knicks when you consider the fact that no team in NBA history has ever come back from a 3-0 series deficit in the postseason before.
While coming back from massive deficits obviously isn’t something any team wants to rely on, it has been something the Knicks have had a knack for this postseason.
So much so that the organization actually set an NBA record in Sunday’s game, becoming the first team in NBA history to win games that they were facing a 20-point or higher deficit in a single postseason.

On paper, the Pacers still have the advantage in the series, considering they were able to take two games on the road in Madison Square Garden. If they can salvage one game in Indiana, they should have every chance to make it to the NBA Finals.
But one thing is quite clear. You simply cannot count out this Knicks team at any point in any game. So it will undoubtedly be a tough task for the Pacers to finish the job in the Eastern Conference Finals.
