Super Bowl be damned, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have owned the Philadelphia Eagles in recent years.
That isn't hyperbole. The Buccaneers have consistently had Philadelphia's number over the last few seasons - whether Tom Brady or current signal-caller Baker Mayfield quarterbacked them.
Perhaps that is why Good Morning Football Host Kyle Brandt ranked the Buccaneers as the top team in the NFC to knock off the Eagles as champions this season.
"The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are under the radar... they smacked the Eagles last year. Look it up. They smacked 'em!" Brandt stated. "They held Saquon in check, Baker went absolutely nuts. They also knocked the Eagles out of the playoffs the year before.
"Also, Nick Sirianni lost to them a few years prior when it was a different iteration of the Buccaneers. Eagles fans know that the Bucs always play them very tough."
Tampa Bay has won six of the last seven games against Philadelphia, including two playoff blowouts. In 2021, the Buccaneers knocked off the Eagles 31-15. Two years later, Tampa Bay overwhelmed Philly by a 32-9 final score. Add in a blowout win during the 2024 season, and the Buccaneers are one of the few teams that have embarrassed the Birds in major ways in recent years.
It hasn't mattered who the head coach or quarterback is. The Buccaneers should feel good about their standing in the NFC to this point.
If they continue their success against the defending champions, they should enter their own window of title contention going into 2025.
