Despite Manchester United playing their final Premier League match this weekend, cementing a final league position of 15th place, the Red Devils’ fixture list isn’t over for the season.
The 2-0 win over Aston Villa marked only their 11th win of the 2024/25 Premier League campaign which has been their worst on record.
Now, Ruben Amorim and his men are already off on a post-season tour, having boarded a flight to Malaysia immediately after their clash with The Villains.
A 32-man squad has travelled to take part in a two-match tour of Asia, with a match scheduled against the ASEAN All Stars in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday 28th May, and the Hong Kong national side on Friday 30th May.
It’s also understood that Andre Onana, Harry Maguire and Diogo Dalot will all be in Mumbai, India on Thursday 29th May for a meet and greet as part of the tour.
Whilst the core member’s of Amorim’s team are all in the travelling squad, youth stars like Godwill Kunkonki, Jim Thwaites and Shea Lacey have also made the squad.
BBC has reported that the mini tour is expected to generate £7.8 million ($10 million) for The Red Devils, at a time when finances are at their most tight.
Having lost the Europa League final to Tottenham Hotspur, United have missed out on the £100 million in extra revenue which would have come with qualifying for the Champions League.
This blow came on the back of the club’s recent financial reports, showing a £40 million loss had been made in quarter three of the current financial year.
Now, the club’s debt stands in excess of £1 billion including around £300 million of transfer fees which are still yet to be paid due to split payments on previous transfers.
This tour is just another attempt by Sir Jim Ratcliffe and the INEOS management to make the club financially sustainable, fighting against the interest payments the club are facing on the Gazer debt.
