Report: Evangelos Marinakis isn't messing about as Nottingham Forest make contact to sign…

Nottingham Forest are already making moves ahead of the summer transfer window, which opens at the start of June.

With the UEFA Conference League now confirmed, Nottingham Forest will have to bulk up their squad ahead of a congested fixture list next season.

Evangelos Marinakis is planning to invest heavily in Nuno Espirito Santo’s squad, with the Greek businessman keen to build on the success this term.

Forest are already eyeing Juventus’ Douglas Luiz, whilst a striker is also thought to be a priority for Nuno Espirito Santo.

Liam Delap continues to be linked with a move to the City Ground, and he is expected to make his decision on his next club before the under-21 Euros, which kicks off on the 11th of June.

Now, there’s a fresh transfer rumour that’s emerging, and this time it’s an attacking midfielder.

Nottingham Forest are in the market for a playmaker this summer, and Manchester City’s James McAtee is of interest to Marinakis.

Now, according to GiveMeSport, the Tricky Trees are also considering a move for Freiburg creative midfielder Ritsu Doan.

It’s understood that Forest have already made initial contact with the Bundesliga outfit to gain more information on Doan.

A £20m deal could be enough to tempt Freiburg into selling the 26-year-old, who is attracting interest from Borussia Dortmund and Eintracht Frankfurt, too.

The report claims that Forest have a ‘serious’ chance of landing his signature, with personal terms not thought to be an issue.

Ritsu Doan nicknamed the ‘Japanese Messi’

Doan primarily operates in the number ten role and has a wand of a left foot, much like Inter Miami and Argentina superstar Lionel Messi.

Doan’s sensational form has seen him nicknamed the ‘Japanese Messi’ (per Squawka), with his diminutive frame even similar to the former Barcelona winger.

36 appearances

10 goals

9 assists

Espirito Santo will certainly like Doan as his defensive data is exceptional. He ranks in the top two per cent for blocks and four per cent for clearances per 90, as per FBref.

Clearly, the left-footed winger isn’t just a forward-thinking player, but also a really hard worker who has the team’s best interests at heart.
