Police have confirmed that a 53-year-old man has been arrested after a car collided with a crowd of Liverpool fans at Monday's Premier League title parade.
"A 53-year-old white British man has been arrested after a car plowed into a crowd of people during Liverpool FC’s Premier League victory parade," Merseyside Police said in a statement.
The incident occurred at around 6 p.m. local time in Walter Street, where many fans were gathered to continue the celebrations after the conclusion of the parade.
Videos have since emerged on social media of a black car colliding with a crowd of people before police officers descended on the scene.
In an earlier statement, Merseyside Police said the car "stopped at the scene," where the man was detained. Updates on the incident are available in our live blog.
Earlier in the day, Reds manager Arne Slot and his squad traveled around the city in an open-top bus to show off the Premier League trophy and bask in the glory of an unforgettable season.
But the story has quickly turned to one of fear and anguish, with ambulance and fire crews also on the scene to tend to the casualties. It is understood that bars and restaurants are being used as makeshift treatment rooms.
A North West Ambulance Service spokesperson added: "NWAS is supporting an incident in Liverpool city center, following reports of a road traffic collision.

"We are currently assessing the situation and working with other members of the emergency services. Our priority is to ensure people receive the medical help they need as quickly as possible."
Police have urged people not to "speculate about the circumstances of the incident" or post "distressing content online," instead asking people to send footage of the incident directly to the force.
Eyewitness Natasha Rinaldi told Sky News of the horrors she saw. "We were having a great time and then we heard some screams," she said. "It sounded so loud, people sounded desperate and we looked out of the window and saw that a car had run over people.
"There was a woman stuck over the car and people started to go after the driver and they tried to break the car and then the police did everything to block and push people away.
"We could just hear screams and screams, and we were very confused. It was a horrible scene, no one was expecting it."
Liverpool issued a club statement expressing its concern for people affected by the incident. It read: "We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening.
"Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident.
"We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident."
