Liverpool have released a statement after a man was arrested for colliding with fans in his car during the club's open-top bus parade to celebrate becoming Premier League champions. The incident was first reported at approximately 6pm, with footage emerging of supporters being hit by a moving vehicle during the parade.
It has since been confirmed that a 53-year-old white British man has been arrested in connection with the incident, with police urging the public not to speculate on the circumstances. There have yet to be any updates regarding the number of people injured. However, Liverpool have issued their first statement since the news broke, condemning the situation and extending their thoughts to those affected.

"We are in direct contact with Merseyside Police regarding the incident on Water Street which happened towards the end of the trophy parade earlier this evening. Our thoughts and prayers are with those who have been affected by this serious incident.
We will continue to offer our full support to the emergency services and local authorities who are dealing with this incident."
