Merseyside Police issue two requests to public after horrific Liverpool parade incident

Merseyside Police has advised the public to not speculate or share harmful videos on social media after man, 53, was detained.

A car plowed through a crowd during Liverpool's Premier League title parade causing chaos.

A police representative provided a full statement on X at 3:17 p.m. ET that read, "We would ask people not to speculate on the circumstances surrounding tonight's incident on Water Street in Liverpool city center. We can confirm the man arrested is a 53-year-old white British man from the Liverpool area."

"Extensive inquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision," the message continued. We ask people not to share distressing content online but to send the footage or information directly to us or pass on information," finishing with a Crimestoppers phone number provided for anonymous tips."
