Manchester United try to gazump Newcastle United in bid for £50m Premier League forward after…

**Newcastle United had long held an interest in Brazilian star Matheus Cunha, who proved his worth time and time again while playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers.**

While Matheus Cunha is a bit more hot-headed than we'd usually like our players to be, his talent would have more than made up for it, but as Newcastle weighed up whether or not to make a move this summer, Manchester United sprang into action and beat them to the punch.

We still have no idea why a player who played in the Premier League last season would choose Man United over Newcastle, having seen the difference between the two clubs, but we guess money talks.

Now, though, it seems Man United aren't content with beating Newcastle to just Cunha, and have their sights on another forward on Newcastle's radar.

Man United want to beat Newcastle to the signing of Bryan Mbeumo

Manchester United reportedly want Bryan Mbeumo

----------------------------------------------

A report in [Manchester World](https://www.manchesterworld.uk/sport/football/manchester-united/man-utd-mbeumo-transfer-news-garnacho-5146117) says that Man United have identified Brentford's Bryan Mbeumo as an 'ideal addition' to their squad.

Newcastle have been keen on Mbeumo since last summer, but the club's finances, due to PSR restrictions, wouldn't allow the Magpies to make a move.

Now, with the club in a much healthier position and with Champions League football to offer, Newcastle are hoping for a good transfer window, one that is likely to include a move for the Cameroonian winger.

If Bryan Mbeumo wants Champions League football, his decision should be easy

The Matheus Cunha deal was done before Man United failed to topple Tottenham in the Europa League final, and now they have no European football next season, it will surely be much harder for them to convince players of Mbeumo's calibre to come to them when there are other offers on the table which include Champions League football.

Of course, as we've said, money talks, and if Man United choose to throw money at Mbeumo like they did with Cunha, that could change things, but surely, Newcastle has to look like the better option.

Who would you rather be pinging crosses into as a top-class winger, Alexander Isak or Rasmus Hojlund?
