NBA Trade Idea Pairs Warriors' Steph Curry and Jimmy Butler With 20 PPG Scorer

The Golden State Warriors were projected to compete for the championship this year after acquiring All-Star small forward Jimmy Butler from the Miami Heat in February.

The Warriors went 23-7 with Butler in the lineup. They beat the Memphis Grizzlies in the 7-8 play-in game and faced the Houston Rockets in the first round of the playoffs.

Behind Butler and Steph Curry, Golden State defeated the Rockets in seven games, setting up a second-round matchup against Anthony Edwards and the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The Warriors won Game 1 in Minnesota, but Curry suffered a Grade 1 left hamstring strain and missed the rest of the series. The Timberwolves won Games 2, 3, 4 and 5 to eliminate Golden State.

Curry, Butler and Draymond Green are under contract for next season. The three All-Stars are the core of the roster.

However, the Warriors' third-leading scorer from this season becomes a restricted free agent this summer and he could be on a new team next season.

According to Anthony Slater and Marcus Thompson II of The Athletic, Jonathan Kuminga and the Warriors are expected to explore sign-and-trade options this summer. Kuminga averaged 15.3 points, 4.6 rebounds and 2.2 assists this season.

With Slater and Thompson II's report in mind, Grant Hughes of Bleacher Report proposed that the Warriors trade Kuminga to the Chicago Bulls for Coby White this offseason in a sign-and-trade deal.

White averaged 20.4 points for the Bulls this season while shooting 45.3% from the field and 37.0% from 3. The 25-year-old will make $12.9 million next season in the final year of his contract.

The Bulls selected White with the seventh overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft. White has career averages of 15.2 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
