Now, fresh off the back of signing Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers, United are seemingly on the verge of signing Ipswich Town striker Liam Delap.
Earlier today, news emerged that Chelsea have pulled ahead in the race for the 22-year-old, however, United may be close to beating them to the prize.
Reliable journalist Rob Dawson of ESPN has reported that United are awaiting a response from Ipswich Delap as they take a huge step in advancing their pursuit of the star.
Manchester United agree deal with Ipswich Town for Liam Delap
The Red Devils have reportedly agreed a deal with The Tractor Boys to sign the 22-year-old, however Delap’s decision is now the only thing stopping an imminent move to Old Trafford.
The Red Devils have confirmed with Ipswich that they’re happy to meet the £30 million release clause for Delap which has come down from £40 million due to the side being relegated.
It’s also understood that the outline of personal terms has also been agreed between Manchester United and Delap’s team, meaning that a move could happen in a matter of days.
The striker is currently taking his time to consider his options amid interest from a host of Premier League sides including United and Chelsea.
Delap’s only transfer requirement is for guaranteed first team football, and considering Rasmus Hojlund’s 21-game goal drought, it’s a no-brainer that Delap would enter the United squad as Hojlund’s replacement as the first-choice striker.
Now, with Delap on the verge of a United move, it’s clear that Manchester United and Ruben Amorim mean business to bounce back stronger next season.
