What began as a day of celebration in Liverpool spiraled into chaos this evening, as fans faced hours-long delays trying to leave the city.

Earlier today on a packed street a car sped up and seemingly ploughed into supporters, which triggered a police response that has effectively "shut down" Liverpool Lime Street station, leaving thousands stranded and desperate to get home.

One X user wrote: “No organisation whatsoever, people getting crushed and we queued for 3 hours in the rain. Disgraceful, hang your heads in shame.”

Another shared: “Had to pay £300 for a taxi to take us home to Sheffield from Liverpool Lime Street Station tonight. Station closed and massive queues of stranded people with police and station staff not telling us anything . No organisation whatsoever.”

However, another fan posted advice, saying: “For anyone stuck at lime street try get yourself to Central station. Much more organized queue and it's moving relatively fast.”
