‘This chapter is over’: Cristiano Ronaldo shares cryptic message as Man Utd legend could be on the move again

Former Manchester United star Cristiano Ronaldo is chasing 1000 career goals – and that pursuit could take another turn.

Manchester United’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa brought the curtain down on a disappointing Premier League campaign.

United finished 15th in the Premier League table, 24 points adrift of the Champions League places.

That is a far cry from United’s second-place finish in the 2020-21 campaign, racking up 74 points under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

United drew too many games in that campaign, but Solskjaer made three big signings to try and chase the Premier League title.

Raphael Varane and Jadon Sancho arrived, but nothing matched the buzz from Cristiano Ronaldo rejoining United from Juventus.

Cristiano Ronaldo drops cryptic message

It all started so well with Ronaldo scoring twice against Newcastle United, and we saw the Portuguese superstar come up with some huge moments.

Sadly, Ronaldo departed United in 2022 having clashed with Erik ten Hag, paving the way for his move to Saudi Arabian side Al-Nassr.

Ronaldo may be 40, but he continues to rack up goals in Saudi Arabia, scoring 99 goals in 111 appearances.

Now closing in on 1000 career goals, Ronaldo could make another move this summer as his quest for goals continues.

Ronaldo scored in Al-Nassr’s final game of the Saudi Pro League season, losing 3-2 away to Al-Fateh.

The legendary striker took to social media straight after the game to suggest that this chapter of his career is now finished.

This isn’t retirement, though, as Ronaldo added that his story will continue – which is a clear hint that he will be leaving Al-Nassr this summer.

‘This chapter is over,’ said Ronaldo.

‘The story? Still being written. Grateful to all,’ he added.

Another return to United is surely impossible, even with compatriot Ruben Amorim in charge, but United fans will certainly be interested to see where Ronaldo potentially ends up this summer.

Gianni Infantino has hinted at Cristiano Ronaldo transfer

Ronaldo’s hint will set tongues wagging, and his post comes just days after surprise comments from Gianni Infantino.

The FIFA president told YouTuber iShowSpeed that discussions have been held for Ronaldo to join a team playing in this summer’s Club World Cup.

Infantino was pretty vague with his claims, but would no doubt love to have both Ronaldo and Lionel Messi on show at the Club World Cup.

“Ronaldo might play for one of the teams as well at the Club World Cup,” said Infantino.

“There are discussions with some clubs, so if any club is watching and is interested in hiring Ronaldo for the Club World Cup… who knows, who knows,” he added.

Al-Hilal will represent Saudi Arabia at the Club World Cup and Ronaldo may well fancy joining them in order to play in this summer’s competition.

Monday’s hint surely means Ronaldo is on the move, with the United legend poised to make a switch as the summer window kicks off.
