Barcelona are being heavily linked with a move for [Espanyol goalkeeper Joan Garcia](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/5/26/24437276/espanyol-boss-reveals-his-advice-to-joan-garcia-amid-talk-of-barcelona-transfer) ahead of the opening of the summer transfer window.
Sporting director Fran Garagarza [has been asked about the situation](https://www.barcablaugranes.com/2025/5/25/24436841/barcelona-go-for-joan-garcia-hansi-flick-and-deco-decide-to-sign-a-goalkeeper) and has been full of praise for his stopper.
Garagarza also said he thinks there is a lot of interest in Garcia and warns any potential transfer may take a while to conclude.
> “There are certain amounts that teams interested in him have to accept, and that’s going to have to be the case given his level. There will be many clubs considering doing so. This is going to take a long time,” he told Cadena SER.
>
> “It’s going to be the clause. But the argument is very simple: the player’s value. The player is worth it. If he had a higher clause, he’d also have that value. If we look at the transfers that have taken place with goalkeepers of our level, they’ve paid that much and more. We don’t have to consider things other than that.

> “It’s not asking for more than he’s worth, but the opposite. For me, the kid has exceptional value. Hopefully he can make it to the national team; he would give us more cachet and help us more. We’re looking at a future national team goalkeeper; he’s an asset to the ‘21’ team and makes us proud of our youth academy.”
Barcelona are expected to face competition from Premier League clubs for Garcia, with the race to land the goalkeeper already appearing to be heating up.
