Congratulations are in order! NBA player Jason Collins married his long-time partner, Brunson Green, in an Austin, Texas, ceremony.
Collins, who became the first out gay active NBA player in 2013, tied the knot to Green on the weekend after being in a relationship for over a decade. The former athlete, who retired from professional basketball in 2014, shared a series of loved-up snaps with his husband on his Instagram story.
Captured by wedding guests, the images of their stunning outdoor wedding were captioned with messages for the happy couple. “Congrats to two of my favourites,” wrote one, while another added, “And just like that, they’re married!”

It appeared that fellow celebrity guests were also in attendance, including The Help actress Octavia Spencer, who worked with producer Green on the movie, and Collins’ New Jersey Nets teammate Richard Jefferson.
The pair even invited Texas-based drag queens Nadine Hughes and Alysha Pretty to perform at their rehearsal dinner. The Extragrams! duo gave a side-splitting rendition of “A Whole New World” from Disney’s Aladdin.
The pair confirmed their relationship to The Hollywood Reporter in 2014 and reportedly got engaged at the Los Angeles Lakers Pride Night in 2023.

Collins told Sports Illustrated in 2023 that he first met his now-husband at a housewarming party.
“I was dating another guy at the time. I didn’t see Brunson again until we ran into each other at a party three months later. By that point, I was single again,” he told the outlet. “Brunson left for Europe the following day, and, while he was overseas, I asked everyone I knew in L.A., ‘Have you heard of this guy?’”
He also recalled his coming out journey to the outlet, saying that it was a relief.
“There’s a stress that you walk around with constantly when you’re in the closet. When I came out, it was like I’d ripped off a Band-Aid. There was so much support from fans and teammates, so many new friends that I made, and I thought, Why didn’t I do this sooner?”
